ABOUT LUMIVIVE^®

What is the LUMIVIVE^® System?

LUMIVIVE^® is a unique, scientifically proven, two-part system that defends against blue light and environmental aggressors during the day and revitalizes the skin overnight. The result is a more luminous, healthy appearance of the skin.

When can patients expect to see results?

The dynamic dual-action of the LUMIVIVE^® System provides visible results in as little as 14 days for patients with all skin types.

Why are there two different products in the system?

The two products in the LUMIVIVE^® System combine to provide around-the-clock support for the skin. LUMIVIVE^® DAY Damage Defense Serum engages the dermal bio-barrier to defend against environmental threats and fights signs of aging during the day. At night, regenerative mechanisms are activated to restore the damage sustained during the day. Aging and overexposure to daily environmental threats decrease these repair mechanisms in the same way as lack of sleep. Thus, the nighttime formula, LUMIVIVE^® NIGHT Revitalize Repair Complex, is included to recharge this essential nighttime skin recovery process.

What are environmental aggressors and how do they affect the skin?

The term “environmental aggressors” refers to air pollution, which consists of smoke, automobile exhaust and particulate matter (eg, free radicals and ozone). Air pollution has been shown to contribute to skin aging, pigmentation, itchiness and dryness, blemishes, and stressed skin. A staggering 92% of the world’s population lives in an area where the outdoor air pollution exceeds the WHO ambient air quality guidelines.* Environmental aggressors also include high-energy visible (HEV) light, commonly referred to as blue light, which in addition to being detrimental to eye health and the body’s circadian rhythm, can also cause skin damage. Blue light penetrates deeper into the skin than UV rays, degrading antioxidants and increasing free radicals, which in turn can cause accelerated aging, dark spots, wrinkles, and saggy, loose skin. Blue light is emitted from cell phones, computers, televisions, tablets, and fluorescent/ LED lights. The average person spends 10 hours a day in front of a screen and the average American aged 25 to 44 checks their phone anywhere between 35 and 50 times per day*.

How should LUMIVIVE^® be used within a regimen?

For existing SkinMedica^® regimens, LUMIVIVE^® should be applied after TNS^® growth factor products.

How often should the LUMIVIVE^® System be applied?

The LUMIVIVE^® System should be applied daily—one pump of LUMIVIVE^® DAY and one pump of LUMIVIVE^® NIGHT should be applied to the whole face after cleansing in the morning and evening, respectively.

How long does one system last?

Applied once daily, one LUMIVIVE^® System lasts approximately 3 months.

Are there any contraindications?

The LUMIVIVE^® System is appropriate for all skin types. Patients with a known sensitivity to any of the ingredients in the LUMIVIVE^® System should not use this product.

Is the LUMIVIVE^® System oil-free and fragrance-free?

The LUMIVIVE^® System is oil-free and fragrance-free, and it does not contain sulfates, phthalates, or parabens.

What are the proper storage conditions for LUMIVIVE^®?

As with most SkinMedica^® products, LUMIVIVE^® should be stored at room temperature 15° to 30° C (59°-86° F). Avoid exposure to extreme heat, cold, or direct sunlight for an extended period of time.

What current SkinMedica^® product does LUMIVIVE^® replace?

LUMIVIVE^® is in a class of its own and does not replace any existing SkinMedica^® product. It is the only product that recharges the skin’s ability to repair itself, amplifies any skin care regimen, and defends the skin from environmental aggressors. This makes it an essential foundation to any new skin care regimen and a great addition to any existing SkinMedica^® regimen.

What is the difference between LUMIVIVE^® and TOTAL DEFENSE + REPAIR Broad Spectrum Sunscreen?

LUMIVIVE^® is not a sunscreen. It is a dual-acting solution for tired stressed skin that was formulated to provide a more comprehensive antioxidant protection against blue light and environmental aggressors with a bio-barrier. TOTAL DEFENSE + REPAIR Broad Spectrum Sunscreen was formulated to provide protection against UV and infrared rays with SOL-IR^® antioxidants that specifically address infrared damage.

Is LUMIVIVE^® included in any of the existing SkinMedica^® systems?

LUMIVIVE^® is currently only available as a stand-alone product.
